![]() Is there any Postscript printing involved, and if so the printer does have the Mac-compatible Postscript module/feature installed ? Hopefully the supplied PPD works properly for LPD printing (see below). I'm suspicious about this point: The driver download for "10.11" has a Read Me file that says it supports up to 10.10. Please confirm that the latest - compatible - Mac driver is installed. Just to confirm, the printer has a static IP, correct?Īfter that, I strongly recommend that you setup one of the Macs with a cabled connection and disable the wireless in order to take the wireless out of the equation and contrast/compare. This is a solved problem: Network printers should have a static IP and a cabled/wired connection. For something that people expect to be reliably available whereas ta wireless connection means - inevitably - for a less reliable & consistent (network) availability, this should be a networking 101 no-no. Seriously, the last time I found such a setup the first thing I did in preparing the network setup was to get the printer moved over to a wired/cabled connection. Once the copier has the file it prints at the machines rated speed.įirst, WHY is the printer using a wireless bridge ? Get it wired into the network. The Windows 10 does this same file in 40 seconds or less. In short all the Macs take about 1-1.5 minutes to process this particular 7.5Mb file. Windows 10, 12 Gigs ram, 600Gb free HDD, HP Inspironġ0.10.?, 4Gigs Ram, ? free HDD Space, MacBook Pro I just need a way of convincing the customer, and their sales rep, that this is out of my hands.ġ0.11.6, 4Gigs ram, 400Gb free HDD space, MacBook Pro, Laptopġ0.11.4, 4Gigs ram, 500Gb free HDD space, Desktop All in oneġ0.11.6, 16Gigs ram, 200Gb free HDD space MacBook Pro, Laptopġ0.11.4, 2Gigs ram, ? free space, MacBook I know the problem, if it is really a problem, is on the Mac side and not the copier. I also understand that Windows and Mac process the file differently. I understand I'm pretty much comparing Apples to Oranges with two different brands of copiers and then throwing Windows into the mix. I really do not feel this is a fool proof solution though. We are planning on trying the AirPrint at the customer on Monday to see if it will work for them or not. One of our other techs sent the file from his Mac using "Air Print" to the Bizhub and he said it went very quick. On a Windows 10 it takes about 25 seconds with a PCL or PS file. They have a 7.5Mb file that takes about 1.5 minutes on their laptop and about 1.25 minutes on my laptop.Īt the office from my laptop it takes about 1 minute and 5 seconds to send to a Konicaminolta BH C308. On their network the "Printer Test Page" from the Mac driver takes about 5 seconds to completely spool and send the file to the printer. The computers are wireless and the MFP, Savin/Ricoh MP C2003, is also wireless using a Netgear wireless bridge. ![]() We have a customer that has recently been complaining about random slow printing. I also connect the previous machines to the customers network for print and scanning. I service Kyocera, Ricoh, and Konicaminolta. I believe I already know the answer but just wanted some opinions anyway.
